A Few Thoughts...

BACK

It has been four years since my last article. I would love to say that much has changed, but unfortunately, that is not true.

Although we have a new resident in the white house, the absurd policies implemented by his predecessor have not been corrected, and now

this administration is intent on even more absurdity.

We are now living in Orwell's 1984.

We will always remain at war with someone, if only to keep the American people occupied with something other than the meltdown

happening across a broad spectrum of our financial sector, the erosion of our Constitutionally guaranteed civil liberties, and the massive

transfer of wealth from the middle class to the elite. War means peace, lies become truth, we are the good guys, and someone is trying to

kill us because of our freedoms. The old lines continue to work like magic on the American public.

Hope and Change?

Obama ran on campaign promises that included getting us out of the civil wars and tribal warfare that are a pervasive part of the middle

east. He also pledged an end to secrecy in government, and vowed to stop the practice of using signing statements, and executive orders,

to implement policy. As usual, he turned out to be no better than the rest, and if anything, has shown to be a more adept liar than all of his

 predecessors.

As our nation continues to descend into a mire of debt, the mainstream press continues to insist that our economy is improving. Since 2000,

we have seen a 10% decline in middle class jobs, and those who have had the good fortune to remain employed, continue to see stagnant or

declining wages when adjusted for inflation. In the past decade, the united States has lost 32% of its manufacturing jobs and this past year

saw US corporations create more jobs overseas than here at home!

Partisan Politics...really???

The corporate press continues to tell us that partisan politics is the underlying problem in the District of Criminals. Oh that we could go

back to those beautiful old days of "GRIDLOCK" when our elected Congress critters at least feigned to be on opposite sides of every

issue. Today, we elect one group of hucksters only to find that they don't accomplish what we sent them to do...so the next election cycle,

we elect the other group of tricksters, and  alas, we get the same "policies" and "solutions" that the hucksters were thrown out over.

Could it be that all these folks work for someone other than the people??? Could their loyalties lie elsewhere instead of a strict adherence

to the Constitution that they have sworn to uphold and defend??? Is their allegiance with the people who elected them in hopes of receiving

at least a semblance of a representative government, or are they beholden to elitists and international corporations who financed their

campaigns, and are eager to reward them with a lucrative position when their constituents back home get tired of their lies and replace

 them with another critter?

If partisan politics were truly the problem, then the worst thing that could happen in America, policy-wise, would be that no legislation could

be passed and thereby foisted upon the people. No, there is something more at work other than what the mainstream press and the talking heads would have

 you believe.

The Time Has Come

Before we can rectify a problem, we must first identify the problem, and understand the underlying causes that have culminated in our current

predicament. The majority of American people would admit that there is a problem with our country today, but those same people would also give you a

myriad of reasons for the shape in which we find ourselves. Therein lies one of our major dilemmas. Our country has grown so large and so diverse, that we

have no commonality with one another. We have become multi-cultured, multi-ethnic, and even multi-classed and we can no longer agree on a proper course for

this nation. If you were to sample a broad spectrum of the U.S. population, you would find people who believe we need more freedom, and probably as many

who feel that in this time of "war", we need many of our liberties curtailed. It is time that the citizens of these united States understand that freedom isn't

granted by our government, nor should government be allowed to infringe upon our basic rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness that our founders

guaranteed in the Constitution that governs this Republic. These united States remain unified only because of coercion, intimidation, and threat of force from

the powers that be in Washington DC. In the not too distant future, history would dictate that these united States will dissolve into numerous confederacies,

or become fifty separate nation states. Just a few thoughts...more to come.
